Strange bracket in the bottom of the center console

Hi,
I just noticed an odd bracket in the bottom of the center console area (under the "transmission" buttons). In this poor quality photo, the item in question is the double headed clip on the left.
My car is a MY 2010.

Greetings,

Thanks for your quick answer. Sounds about right.

The reason I came across it is that I ran a USB cable from the back of the radio to this area, so I can plug my mobile phone and listen to the music stored in its memory card.
On the MY 2010, the (full size) USB plug is in a spot that does not make it easy to connect to a mobile and have said mobile stay put during acceleration.
The cable I ran has a micro-USB plug at the end that goes right into my phone.
For those interested in a similar setup, it involves removing the radio and its mounting frame, fishing the cable from the rear of the radio behind the instrument panel and down towards the center console. Much cursing was required in my case to get the cable where I wanted it... I just left the original cable in place, as its removal would require dismantling most of the center console.

Greetings,
David
