Supercharger - Harrisburg, PA

They are working very hard on superchargers so they say. soon

Has anyone heard anything on a supercharger in the Harrisburg area recently? Last I heard in May they were expecting it this summer, but I haven't heard anything since. I assume the lack of info is not a good sign.

Finally heard back from the supercharging team, they said they are still working on it, but that it probably won't happen this summer. Thats a bummer but not surprising.

Did they say how far along the line the "work" is? Are they still looking for a location, or are they getting permits already/etc.?

Nope, no further information.

This one would really be useful IMO. Something around the I-81 and I-76 interchange near Carlisle would be ideal.

Yes please!!!

I could see it at a place like John's Diner off 83. It's open 24/7, right off the turnpike and between the turnpike and 581 and around a decent amount of hotels/food options.

Funny if they put one on the street, 'Gasoline Alley'.

I would think this is a very high priority location give the proximity to Baltimore & Philly and half-way point between existing Somerset SC and soon to open Allentown SC.

Just speculation, but here are a couple of good possible locations, pretty well centrally located and near both east-west and north-south routes. There are multiple businesses and hotels in each area, some hotel chains where Tesla has already installed SC's in other areas of the country:

Harrisburg Mall, 3501 Paxton St, Harrisburg, PA
Hilton Garden Inn, 3943 Tecport Dr, Harrisburg, PA
Holiday Inn, 4021 Union Deposit Rd, Harrisburg, PA
Fairfield Inn, 1018 Briarsdale Rd, Harrisburg, PA
Sheraton, 4650 Lindle Rd, Harrisburg, PA

Don't mean to get anybody's hopes up, but on the Tesla website supercharger page, there is a gray icon that says coming soon, in the location that appears to me to be in the Harrisburg area. I don't remember seeing it before. As I try to triangulate between the existing superchargers, and the one going into Allentown, it looks to be in the correct location for Harrisburg. Of course, I could be "cartographically challenged". Someone else take a look and tell me what you think.

Yeah, i believe that showed up when Allentown and Tannersville's coming soon icons showed up. Late November i think. Definitely the Harrisburg area. I'm hoping for Carlisle, but no evidence to back that up.

The bad news is that Harrisburg was supposed to be coming soon in 2014. The good news is that Tesla said they were actively working on a site as of late October.

Looks like its going into the shopping center where Weis Markets is. There is also a Jimmy Johns and I think a Starbucks there. Easy access to I83 and I81

Well, if true, wish it were closer to the turnpike, but hey - just glad to have it. Looks like a Red Robin is nearby, so that works well too!

The turnpike is pretty close to there. Just hop on 83->283 to turnpike. Maybe 6 miles.

I thought the Harrisburg Mall was a better location, it is a little closer to the Turnpike, but this is fine too, closer to 81. I just left Harrisburg or I would check the location for progress, but am there several times a week. The Sheetz has a chademo charger and bunch of restaurants are within walking distance.

Gmoney12, did you see construction? What specifically did you see?
