Revision F Battery Pack?

It would be interesting to know what has changed with each pack revision.

Six battery revs in only two years... wow!

It certainly would, but unlikely we will ever know. Probably only J.B. and the Tesla powertrain design engineers know all the details about the differences.

Probably a ton of subtle differences, although likely nothing major.

On the B and A packs I have seen photos of dismantled, the BMS boards on the modules were hard wired to each set of cells, where on the D-packs they have plug in connectors on the BMS boards.

There is an unverified theory that the "F" packs support higher discharge current for the higher power P85D.

Someone should point MarcG in the direction of this thread. With his brand new P85D he could at least keep that theory alive, or kill instantly if he has the E-pack.

Btw, where is this "theory" coming from?

The hypothesis is likely due to the additional current the P85D requires for two motors when using insane mode.

Yes so I assumed as well, but was more thinking if there was some more substantial background info that this was based on. Other than the 480KW-screenshots of the speedo.

ah well, I guess we will soon know if MarcG or others with a fresh P85D has the E or F.

I thought that's where the E packs came in. They are also a very new release.

I was also under the impression that the E packs were also a new release. So it's surprising they had another revision so soon.

The C pack didn't last long. I've never heard of anyone actually getting one.

Interesting though, it shows "DUAL MTR" on the top of the sticker, implying that something did actually change on the battery for the D.

Perhaps there are an extra set of HV connectors that go to the front motor?

Very good guess, I would bet that's why there's a D-specific pack.

Just a thought, unless the new packs are backwards compatible with the old cars as well, might throw a wrench in the works or at least require multiple variations in packs at the swap stations.

Everything up to a D is backwards compatible with B and A. Anything beyond that is anyone's guess as we've never seen a pack swap to an E or F pack.
