What about the plans for an App Store, new browser and Android emulator?

While the buzz about the new autopilot features is great - and could bring the Model S features in that area up to, if not surpassing, those of other car manufacturers (for those purchasing new Model S cars), we haven't heard anything about other major features that were promised long ago - such as the App Store, new browser and Android emulator?

And, what about plans to add missing navigation and media playback features available in other cars that are much older or at lower price points than the Model S?

If Tesla really intends to be selling 500,000 cars per year in a few years, now is the time for them to make the investment in their software - fix their release process, improve the quality, and bring the functionality at least up to a level comparable to other vehicles. If they wait until there's enough volume to justify making this investment, they'll continue to be behind - and do they really want Tesla's reputation to be risked on having poor software???

This is something that Musk could easily address. Even if no major hardware upgrades are planned for the next year - he could announce that Tesla plans to continue making major software updates over the next year - and more firmly commit to delivering some of the functionality he's mentioned over the last several years - and Tesla has not yet delivered.
