I was wondering about the role of the DS and for owners out there, can you give details of how they communicated with you?

I really want to work for Tesla, but all the corporate jobs are in CA. I don't mind switching careers, I just want to see if it would be engaging enough for me.

All the details on the job page are quite general.

Thanks!

My DS was great, but then pretty much everyone at Tesla I've dealt with was great. Be forewarned though, Tesla employees work a ton of hours. I wouldn't work for Tesla personally, much as I like their product and their mission, since from what I can see there simply is no work life balance. Tesla is your life.

I see. Were you in constant contact with them or just called when you had questions? Like I said, just trying to get a feel of what it might be like from the outside.

Yeah, I've heard that about the company....which sucks because I have a 4 year old and a nice job at a school where I have a lot of time off, but I have this inner pull to want to work for a company changing the future for the better (thinking about my daughter as well). I don't want to miss my child growing up either, so it's an inner struggle for me.

No, definitely not constant contact. It was always hit and miss getting information. I got my car back in December 2012 though, but it doesn't sound like the communication has changed much. I think mostly because the DS just have a lot of people and deliveries are bursty in nature (e.g. lots at the end of a quarter), which leads to the squeaky wheel prioritization.
