We're not totally up on our Chinese ideograms, but it looks like the Luxgen EV+ uses a powerplant from AC Propulsion with lithium ion cells and puts out 265 N-m of torque and offers a 0-62 time of 8.6 seconds. Top speed is an apparent 90 mph.

Advanced power technology combines high performance and high endurance. In terms of MPV models, 180kW motor can demonstrate 240hp horsepower and 265 Nm of torque; life of up to 350 kilometers or more (constant speed 40km / h); 0 ~ 100 km / h in 8.6 seconds; speed is as high as 145km / h. Beyond the equivalent petrol cars and other electric vehicles on the market performance of the power.

California's AC Propulsion to co-develop new EV with Taiwan, Might Sell in U.S. October 14, 2008
    By Nate Martinez
Southern California automotive technology company AC Propulsion (ACP) has recently announced its collaboration with Taiwan's Yulon Group in the development of an all-new electric vehicle. The yet unnamed EV will be built under Yulon's new Luxgen car brand and will initially be only mass produced for Asian markets in mind, although ACP will be looking to see if the car has potential in the U.S.

There they go again with that 350km range claim - measuring it at 40km/h is most definitely cheating.

If the range figures for all the cars on the chart were measured under the same conditions it would be a fair comparison. Clearly that is not the case.

I go by the kwh for the batteries instead. At 40 kwh, it's 1⅔ times that of the LEAF, slightly more than the Mini-E, and 3/4 that of the Roadster. Not bad, really.

But considering the shape is probably not too much more aerodynamic than the roadster and the weight is almost 80% more you are not getting very far with that battery.

Looking at the numbers the Leaf with about 25% more weight and about 45% the battery getting almost 50% of the range of the Roadster seems a bit optimistic as well.

If specs and price, ($35k), pan out at all this could be real competition for the LEAF and the RAV.

    Interesting partner...

Luxgen uses a 150-kW AC motor that produces the equivalent of 201 horsepower with and 162 pound-feet of torque, coupled to a lithium-ion battery pack. For comparison, the Volt uses a 111-kW motor, the Leaf 80 kW. The company worked with AC Propulsion of California to develop this technology.

Yeah, the ACP tie-in was mentioned early on.
