400 miles on a charge(?)

According to Tesla's speed vs. range graph (http://www.teslamotors.com/blog4/), the roadster will have to travel between 13 and 23 MPH to hit 400 miles. That's 20 hours if averaged at 20 MPH. That would be a cool stunt, but of no value to the public. If they can do it at 55 MPH, then that's a real record, but will require 92 KWh of energy. With additional 40 KWH battery towed behind, it could be done.

There are various ways you could "cheat". 400 miles drafting behind a big rig.
The worlds longest downhill road, etc.

There must be a road somewhere with a strong prevailing tail-wind.

Tesla could a pack with 3000 mAh cells, instead of the standard 2200 mAh cells. It might not have enough power for full performance, but they could set all sorts of EV range records with it. If they sold a few "special edition" roadsters with this pack, the records could be for a "production" EV.

This could generate some press and help drive sales.
