An Interesting trip to Paradise (in Mt. Ranier National Park)

On Sat 8/23/2014 Tess (Model P85) left her lair near Tacoma, Wa (elevation 260') with 4 adults, 0 odometer miles and 236 range miles headed for Mt. Rainier visitors center 72.9 (google) miles away. It was a beautiful sunny day. We reached Elbe, Wa (ele. 1214') @41.8 odometer mi with 186 range mi remaining. After stopping at the usual tourist sites in elbe for our visitors we headed on up the mountain. Lots of traffic seemingly mostly going up and little coming down. Beautiful vistas of the mountain, Nisqually R. and the glacier with sun and very few clouds. Quite steep. Eventually we reached the Henry M. Jackson Visitors center to find all the parking lots full and lines of cars waiting. We used 76 range mi for 33.2 odometer mi. At that point I was a bit nervous because Tess showed 75 odometer mi traveled and only 110 range mi remaining. We headed back down and the REGEN KICKED IN. At 98.2 odometer mi the range had increased to 116. So for the last 23.2 odometer mi we had gained 6 miles of range. A little further at Elbe we had 107.2 odometer mi and 111 range miles remaining. The remainder of the trip thru Eatonville to home was uneventful. We arrived at home with 152.5 odometer mi and 66 range miles remaining. We used only 170 range miles for the round trip.

The reason for this post was to detail our experience with energy usage on the steep climb to Mt Rainier Visitors Center and the amazing REGEN on the way back.
 
Yes, this agrees with my experience with driving to Mt Rainier from Bellevue in an S85. It's stressful to watch the state of charge as you approach Longmire and Paradise. During descent, regeneration brings average energy back to normal levels.

Separately, it would be great if the National Park Service could install level 2 charging stations in the popular visitor centers. However, this is unrealistic considering the remote locations and government budget.
