Hi there! Our S85 is scheduled to be delivered late september, but according to NJ laws the car must be paid for in advance of delivery.

So, for those that have already received their cars, I would like to know what someone is to do if a major/minor problem is to be found when we go and pick up the car.
For example, what if I find paint damage or scratched chrome on the car? I can't theoretically speaking refuse the car (don't know why I would though) because its already paid for, but what should I do if these problems are shown during pick up?

All insights are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just wondering. Are you absolutely certain you could not refuse the car? I mean, until you sign the piece of paper that acknowledges that the item you purchased was actually delivered as promised in the condition that a reasonable person would accept....are you sure? I don't know NJ law but despite any technical answer to that question, based on what I have observed to date, I do believe Tesla would make it right for you.

p.s. If I were you I would just contact Tesla and put the question to them. Let them know your concern and get a response directly from them as to how they would handle the theoretical situation. Put your mind at ease.

Good idea, I'll ask my delivery specialist then. I definitely have confidence that Tesla would make it right for us, since they have a great track record of customer service. Fingers crossed it arrives in excellent condition.
Thanks birdsaresmarter!

I think when you're buying a used car or something from a shady dealer perhaps refusing delivery makes sense. But with a high end car from a real company I think you can make a note of any exceptions, have them put in writing that they'll be taken care of and take delivery only. Thats just my opinion but its how I planned on dealing with it. I paid in full long before my car arrived in my state. They can fix some things at the DC right when you take delivery, other bigger items they could easily note. The DC is supposed to call you/delay delivery if something is off anyway. If you're taking a shipment (i.e. not getting it at a DC) then just ask the process for noting irregularities and prepare accordingly.
