Just drive from Chicago to miami and staying for the week. Got here with no issues besides the weather which was horrific. It rained from Ohio to Florida, literally non stop! Regardless I'm here in miami but the public charging situation is garbage at best. First, The hotel does not have any options to charge. Secondly , There are only 3 charging stations that tesla has recommended or that I can find. Two of them are on hotel premises and they charge $50 to just park the car even before you start charging!! Now lastly the only last option is at whole foods and which is always occupied! So I literally have 10 miles left on the car and have to keep stopping by whole foods to check if it's empty. I need some recommendations or options to charge the car without relying only on whole foods. Any recommendations anyone?

I have a chargepoint station that works great even @ 32amps... BUT, In Broward. Some of the casinos have charging stations.

Tesla has a store on south beach you can call during business hours. I am sure they would help or the service center in Dania off 95 and Stirling Rd. I am out in west Broward with a 40amp outlet....

Hakesh,

First, you should download PlugShare on your phone/ipad etc. You can then take a look on the map inside plugshare and see what is near you. You should have a number (75ish) of options near you beyond the three that Tesla pointed you to both public and a number of private users that offer up their home chargers. You can read user reports on each site to help determine how useful that site would be.

Make PlugShare - EV Charging Station Map - Find the nearest location to charge your electric car! a Favorite on the web browser in the car.

Not sure where in Miami you are staying, but you can use the HPWC at the Tesla store in Dadeland Mall which is near the intersection of Kendall Drive (SW 88 St) and US 1. I charged there once and they were very friendly and accommodating.

You can also call the Lincoln Road Store in Miami Beach and see about charging there.

Thank you everyone for the tips and advice. I called Tesla in Miami on Lincoln and they are sales only so their chargers are inside and they have to move cars around they politely told me that's not gonna happen. Dadeland tesla was much more helpful and offered me theHPWC charger there as an option. They gave me some other options that I knew about but ultimately by using plug share I found a bunch of options but most were non tesla dealerships who had restrictions on time and space. I got a couple other charge points but they were not working.

Ultimately I found the best spot and perfect location for anybody staying in miami. 1301 Collins avenue has a parking garage with electric chargepoint charging that seem to always be available. They also have a few chargers and the garage only charges $1/HR to park there and chargepoint is $.49 cents an hour. So basically parked the car and go the beach which is one block over with many restaurants and shopping. Left the car while was at the beach all day and now I'm topped of at 265 miles to go!!!! Today is a good day ladies and gentlemen.

Thank ni you everybody for the help and hopefully this helps other people in the future.
