glove box LED?

I see a red LED lightbulb (I think) protruding upside down from the top left edge of the inside of the glove box. The red light does not work. I am curious if this light comes on when the glove box is opened on others. If so, advice on how to remove it and replace?

No LED in my glove box.

I'll have to arm the car with the glove box open to see if that's the purpose. weird idea... is this to tell the burglar after she's in my car and looking for a piece of chewing gum in the glove box that she's busted?

lol, no, the glove box is locked when the alarm is on. But I do like the image you're painting

I think this is a phototransistor not an LED. It would be related to the alarm system in that it can trigger the alarm. If someone were to drill into the glove box to not release the latch, such a device should detect the breach.

Example (not what the Roadster actually uses - or if it does it's pure coincidence.)

I checked again, it's a red blinking led. It's blinking when the car is "off" and not locked yet.

So you have left your glove box open, pulled out the keys and then it starts blinking. Again, weird! Mine does not do this. I have left the glovebox open and locked it and no light. Maybe mine is burned out.

Well then mine is burned out too! Can't find any sequence that makes it come on. I wonder - could it be different for the U.S. versus Europe? Some obscure regulation?

I never noticed the glove box LED before. Mine flashes if the car is locked and glove box open, which makes sense as an alert. Sometimes it also flashes when the car is unlocked with no key in the ignition, but not consistently.
