Ottawa - National Drive Electric Week

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
I've been contacted by an organizer of the National Drive Electric Week event to attend and speak about my experiences with ownership. I mentioned that I would help rally some other Tesla owners to give their own 'show and tells'.

Event information:
National Drive Electric Week Event - Ottawa
September 19-20, 2014
Sparks Street.

Apparently the site will be updated over the next couple weeks with additional information. The level to which you want to help is based on your level of comfort with your vehicle. This can range from giving ride alongs, allowing test drives or just speaking to your car.. whatever works for you. Plug N' Drive Ontario is on hand and they provide liability insurance of $2M. (not sure what exactly that means with your own insurance).

Any questions, feel free to post them and I can forward them onto the Ottawa organizer. You can just click the 'register' to attend this event and put your car details in.

I'll be there on the Friday and would love to see more owners there!

Some additional info I just received after asking about where to park, etc

"Yes, parking will be on Sparks Street. There will be people to help direct drivers to a free spot and warn people walking by to get out of the way. So, if we know to expect a car, we will have a space for them. Also, drivers should turn onto Sparks from O'Connor with their 4-ways on. I'll make all that more clear on the website.

Also just a heads up, we had to cut Saturday out of the event. The decision was made late yesterday so I will be updating the registration site and other posts today. We will only be hosting the event Friday September 19th from 10am - 7pm."

Just make sure if you want to attend with me, to register!: National Drive Electric Week Event Attendee Registration

Grateful for for more info on event as I will pick up our Tesla in October and have lots of questions to ask.

I'll be there around 10am too, staying as long as there is still interest. It would be cool to line up the Teslas together! Maybe we can take turns taking people out for drives, so that there's always someone there to answer questions.

I'll look for you guys when I get there. Shouldn't be hard to find you

Awesome! Look forward to seeing everyone.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone has registered: National Drive Electric Week Event - Ottawa

Should be a good time. Looks like I'll be there around 10:30 myself.

It was super fun and exhausting... It was really great to meet you guys in person! I was honoured to meet Peter_M and inottawa for the first time. I also met future Tesla owners who are taking deliveries as soon as tomorrow! It was fun to see the regulars as well like steph_s :) . I hope to see the rest of you in future events.

Agree with both points - fun and tiring! The reaction from the visitors was universally positive - everyone seemed to say they would like their next car to be electric, or stronger (it WILL be electric, or they're about to order a Tesla and are looking for advice on options). The questions were good, with lots of the regular ones (How far can you go on a charge? How long does it take to charge? Where's the motor? Where's the battery?), but also lots of other questions (How much does it weigh? What about winter driving? Where do you buy them and get them serviced? What do you think about fuel cells?).

And it was indeed great to meet a bunch of TMC people in person for the first time. There were 7 Model S's there at one point, more than any other vehicle represented.

I think the event was a big success to raise EV awareness and get people thinking seriously about what it would take to get themselves behind the wheel of an EV. Thanks to the organizers and all the participants!
