Build your own charging network

Well, we actually do in North America. In Canada, Sun Country has put together a network of High Amp Level 2 (70 or 80 Amp) chargers. You can drive from the Atlantic to Pacific oceans on this network. In Washington State in the US, the Plug-In North Central Cascades has put in a similar network. The thing that distinguishes these networks is they were built with private money by EV owners and enthusiasts. As such, the networks are well thought out for long distance EV travel. These are unlike the government backed networks in the US that have been planned by non-EV owners and are more about making a political statement ("look how green we are").
