Thread: Active Suspension

    Active Suspension

I recently saw a blog suggestion about the possibility of have an active suspension available as an option on the Tesla Whitestar. I know that I would be very much in favor of this and was wondering what others might think.

I've been trying to keep up with the development of the Bose suspension system and it certainly seems to be an incredible piece of engineering.

Sounds good to me. Particularly since they have a high voltage power source readily available!

I wonder though, would it be unfair of Tesla to make something like this available as an option? I mean, wouldn't it just give the Whitestar way too much of an advantage in the handling department when compared to any other vechicle that it would most likely be compared against?

But a further thought is; adding anything that would increase electricity usage would probably not be something considered by Tesla, at least until the range is greatly increased.

GM developed shock absorbers that are controlled by al electric charge, depending on the behavior of the car. Very effective.

Mercedes-Benz has ABC (Active Body Control) which is fully hydraulic no mechanical springs.

I do hope that one of these are available on the Whitestar. I really dislike the diving and leaning that my current vehicle does in order to provide a comfortable ride.

I expect this technology to be quickly commercialized and included in all hybrids, EVs and PHEVs. This is a brilliant efficiency idea.
