We had 27 Model S and 1 Roadster on the Mt. Evans Road Rally this past Saturday. The group of more than 60 people left Idaho Springs at 10:00 a.m. first driving 14 miles straight up hill from ~7,000 feet elevation to 10,500 feet. After a 20 minute stop for photos and more camaraderie, we drove another 14.5 miles to the summit at 14,256 feet - the highest paved road in North America. Total one-way trip was 28.5 miles with over 7000 elevation gain.

I departed Idaho Springs with 242 miles of range, had 173 miles at the summit, but upon return I gained 20 miles and finished at 193 miles of range. Great day, great people, great fun.

I realise these posts are from a year ago. However, I was wondering how a Mt. Evans climb would be for my tesla. I have done it several times in ICE, but I want to do it in my Tesla. You've shown me it is really easy.

Thanks!

Last year the road was pretty bad. If you have an air suspension, raise it and realize that it auto-lowers as you speed up; be careful. If you don't have air suspension, be really careful!

This is really good to know. The last time I was there the road was quite smooth until the last few turns at the top, when one is probably pretty slow anyway.
