Just read this story and was about to post. Very interesting stuff. There's even a subtle dig at Boeing and Tesla in the context of Li's volatility and fires.

I wouldn't worry just yet. The "big breakthrough" in batteries than finally triggers mass adoption, may well not involve Lithium at all.

In his lithium/gasoline comparison, it might have been worth mentioning the difference in efficiency between electric motors and internal combustion engines. Gasoline's energy density is not quite so impressive when you measure it at the wheels.

Maybe Teslas should have an "exhaust pipe" after all. This could lead to "highways of happiness."
