Refuel - Alternative Vehicle Demonstration | EVENT INFO

No idea who's participating.

That is the famous "Corkscrew". They crest a hill then drop into that. Sometimes they start off on 3 wheels there from the hard braking turn above.
(note, video is of old gasoline cars)

It is a nice corner to watch from because you get shade from the trees unlike many of the other corners.

(Any Tesla owners need a co-pilot?)

I've driven "the bowl" at turn 6 at NHIS and the high speed downhill at Lime Rock, both lots of times. Elevation changes on a race track are thrilling and awe inspiring to drive, and try to master. It looks easy on a video like that, but drive it (or just ride along) at speed and it's SCARY!

Good to see someone's talking about this. The post didn't get any comments and I thought people might have missed it.

Perhaps Tesla could assist in setting one up there. It would seem like an ideal event for promotion.

Good idea. Perhaps rent a carrier truck a take half a dozen cars down (and a charger). Good press and good customer relations. Might even be good for their Roadster order book.

So, Doug and I both made our way to Laguna Seca and found a very well organized event with Roadster owners being the dominant presence among all the other EVs there. Two people from Tesla brought a car down from Menlo Park and tore up the track all day long. Various owners also learned some new driving skills and were kind enough to give a few rides on the track to the Tesla fans in attendance (thanks!)

Lots of charging was available. They custom wired a big pile of NEMA 14-50 adapters that let everyone charge at once during the driver briefings between track sessions.

It actually worked quite well the way they did it. 15 minute sessions on the track, then about 1.5 hour breaks to get some charge and let the electronics and motors cool down. (Which they really needed).

There were so many MC240s and Roadster foundry kits in use that owners started to put tape labels on them to make sure they didn't get mixed up.
