Dear EV Ambassadors!

I would like to invite you all to this SPRING event! For once, let Canada BEAT a EV record!

Here is more info about the event:

http://www.timetoelectrify.ca/2014/03/20/be-part-of-guinness-world-record-biggest-ev-rally/

And on Green Car Reports

http://www.greencarreports.com/news...nness-world-record-try-in-montreal-next-month

ALL TESLA OWNERS from anywhere are welcomed! But there is a automotive reporter from the Toronto Star who would like to be a co-pilot for the Toronto-Montreal trip. I think a Tesla owner would be best since it's easy to make the trip with all SCH CS90's charger along the 401!

Please contact me if interested about bringing on the reporter!!

I am part of the organization committee ... please feel free to ask me questions ... on saturday April 19 it's possible to drive all the EV's available in Canada around the majestuous F1 Gilles Villeneuve Racetrack!

bump ... just want to be sure that everyone that might be considering coming to this shows up and anyone else that didn't already know of it (even from outside of Montreal ... i.e. Ottawa, Quebec, ...) should consider it.

I might be going. Any others from Toronto?

Could you provide a bit more detailed agenda of the day(s) events?

Does anyone have suggestions on charging such that this could be driven on one day?

The day of the record attempt we will gather between 4 and 5 and the counting and parade should start around 5h30 and then be done by 6.

For the charging support: to get there the only viable solution is the Sun Country network but once there they say there will be some charging. Here is an excerpt from the organizers email

About 20 plugs will be available from 6 to 9 pm for cars with very limited range. Otherwise you can find charging station downtown or on south shore (picture attached).

Here is the summary of the event (in English). You can also find additional information our Club Tesla Quebec Webpage (although in French, sorry. Go to Club Tesla Qubec) and on the CNTA website for the event (http://www.branchezvous.org). The Club Tesla Quebec will likely also be inviting people to meet informally after at one of our downtown bar/restaurant. This will be posted on our FaceBook page soon, when confirmed (Facebook.com/clubteslaquebec)

We currently have over 310 pre-registrations , which means that we will exceed the 305 mark provided that all vehicles shows up . We count on you!
To reach the site just follow the signs for " Record Guinness VE " or P8 upon arrival on Ste Helene island (indications are available from Concorde Bridge or Jacques Cartier Bridge )
You must arrive between 4 pm and 5 pm .
To make the event enjoyable we ask you to follow our volunteers instructions to guide you on site.
Be patient! For this unique event it will reduce the risk of accidents.
Be careful! EVs doesn’t make noise , pedestrians (although they are EV drivers ) can ‘t hear you !
The count will take place at 5:30 pm and our volunteers will tell you how to make the parade that will make a 2nd count .
From 6 pm you will have to leave the site (always following the instructions of our volunteers ) .
If you have cameras or videographers passengers enjoy it to generate the maximum images / movies! All these elements will be required to certify the record thereafter.
See you on Friday!

Hope this helps and hope some Toronto/Otttawa/Ontario people can make it :)

Looks like I'll be coming.

That's great Doug! If you do and want to head back to Ottawa that same night, there are some 30A charging options downtown or you could also charge for a couple of hours at my place (which is on the west island of montreal, a few km north of highway 40 (you would get about 52 km/hour of charge from my 240V 14-150 plug). I am 175 km from downtown ottawa FYI. Too bad you can't drive the Model S and Roadster at the same time :). I am bringing both of mine to the event. If you want to meet up or need info, just PM me for my cell number.

PS. Invitation is the same for anyone else coming from Ontario :)

Interesting... I was just talking to a friend who will be traveling from Montreal Airport (YUL) and needs a ride from Ottawa this friday, and I was thinking of taking this as an excuse to drive to Montreal (this would be my first road trip in my Model S). I was also looking at the charging stations around St. Cathrine and Rue Guy while visiting a friend who lives in that area. And now the parade... hmmm

I too offer access to my 14-50 however being as I am in Laval it is not quite as convenient as znino's, it is still available to anyone that requires the extra juice.

I think I'm coming from Ottawa. I'm only worried that every single charger in Montreal will be used by all these EVs. At the beginning I will be at the airport charging for an hour or two, but it's slow and I'm not expecting much... will see about that later...

There are quite a lot of Level 2 (30A) chargers in the Montreal area but as you said, they are relatively slow and you will only get about 30Km back for every hour of charge. Those that are downtown are mainly in underground parking lots (both systems (Circuit Électrique and AddEnergie) require a card for charging which you probably dont have anyway).

I was told there should be charging stations on the site where the meet up will occur but that's not terribly useful as they won't be exactly where we will be parked, and then we will drive off in a parade line so it's annoying to have to go back after to charge up. Plus it is on Ste-Helen's island, just off Montreal, which is a type of park and so nothing around to do while you wait (mind you, there's the Montreal Casino nearby :)

As I've mentioned, I have a 14-50 setup in my garage that anyone can use. Im 5 minutes from highway 40 on the west island of Montreal, so directly on the way to Ottawa (5 minute detour each way to my home from the highway). After the Guinness event I am going to the meet-up at a bar that our Quebec Tesla Club is hosting (all welcome, see Facebook invite https://www.facebook.com/events/616279461797012/) and after I am going out with the wife, but if anyone wants to use my charger for a couple of hours before heading back to Ottawa, I could just put the cable outside. There will be enough length to reach your charge port. There are a number of restaurants and bars a 5 min taxi ride away (typical suburb restaurants and bars) so you could theoretically wait it out at one of those.

Just let me know if you will be doing this so I can prepare and also tell you if the port is already taken by someone else. Zax also mentioned he has his HPWC on the south shore (probably adds another 30-40Km to your route over my location but faster charging)

Thanks a lot for your offer. As you can tell, I'm still ~80% decided so I can't give you my word from now. I actually do have AddEnergie, Circuit Électrique, and ChargePoint. I use them in Gatineau. I even ordered them before I got the car :) .

Thanks again! I will keep you posted.

oh ok, so if you have those cards, you can at least connect up downtown and make a night of it while you get back 100 Km maybe and then drive back if you want to leave the same day (or stay overnight, of course).

Keep in touch. If you are coming to the event, once you are sure, please register yourself and your car at the following link so they expect you. BV2014_Grand Rassemblement VÉ_record du monde Survey

I already registered this morning. Now it's confirmed; I'm coming :). I will be leaving Ottawa early morning heading toward the downtown. I will be charging at one of the underground parkings there for a few hours and will be visiting a friend while charging. At 3:30PM, I will head toward the meeting location. Once we're done, I will go to the airport to drop a friend who will be joining me from Ottawa to catch a flight for 10PM. After that, I will be back to Ottawa. Luckily, the airport has 2 chargers there as well.

Just to confirm, we're meeting at 4PM, right?
