    Roadster car cover

    Car cover finally got here.

Has vents over the blower areas, and a little door to allow the charging cable to pass through - but it kinda blows up like a hot air balloon while the fans are running. I kept waiting for it to take flight.

Not sure how much I will ever use it while charging. But it should allow me to park in outdoor parking lots without the sun fading the paint. Might keep away some potential molesters too.

Graham - Is that the cover that was talked about being designed over on the Owner's site or is this from another source?

Yes, this is the CarCovers product. I know from the Owner's board they are doing another rev of the product beyond mine.

I got the "WeatherShield" material which packs much smaller than their other products, but has less cushion built in if someone bumps my car.

What about those seams? Are they going to scratch the paint?

Is the seam thread choice sandpaper-liker rough and going to be a problem?

They claim not, but I don't know for sure:
    WeatherShield®HP
    Cover Fabrics

To my untrained eyes and fingers the interior seams seem very soft - but I do not know how that will be to the paint over hundreds of putting on and taking off of the cover.

Sorry ... but I would have a huge problem with this cover. The front air intake is "blocked", right ? That alone severely reduces the efficiency of the necessary cooling ...

Yes. The air vents on the hood are vented through the cover, but the air intake below the front bumper are not vented. This is the exact thing they are changing with the next revision.

Personally, I do not plan to charge while the cover is on (no need for it to be covered n my garage), so I don't much care right now, but I may wish to upgrade to this next version in the future.

When are they expecting to have the next version ready?

I do not know. Last I heard was from about a week ago where their latest prototype was in the hands of Tesla engineers to see if they approved of the new changes.

Assuming that the latest prototype is accepted, then I think it will be just the amount of time it takes to manufacture/ship them. For my cover it took about 4 weeks. So maybe 4-8 weeks from now?

Your best bet is to call them and get something better than my guess. Their number is on the Owners Board under
    Tesla Motors->General->Car Covers

(Or PM me and I will forward the info)
