Complete record of changes to pricing and features?

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Has anyone maintained a complete, dated record of changes to the standard features, option package contents, prices, etc.? If so, where might this be found?

I can find threads discussing various changes, but no complete, ongoing record.

Keeping a record of the VIN at which each change occurred might also be helpful, especially for used car buyers down the road.

I also have often regretted that he had made no screen shots, when ordering.

Because in my opinion has been changed a lot.

For example, the fog lights were still part of the technology package.

But whether I now get the fog lights on the car I do not sure.

So I would also appreciate a complete listing.

The VIN number is marginally useful for the modification time.

Because I get the VIN 19183 and VIN yet `s with more than 25,000 have been delivered.

Better we take the date of the change.

After spending an embarrassing amount of time searching through this forum, the following is what I've been able to come up with. I hope some of you can provide additions and corrections, as I'm sure I didn't get everything complete and correct. (Which I'm trying to do for the car price comparison tool I provide at truedelta.com.)

After spending an embarrassing amount of time searching through this forum, the following is what I've been able to come up with.

You should consider making that a wiki. From memory, nothing looks out of place and this question comes up often on the forum. It would be nice to allow contributions from others to maintain the list in the future.

It's a nice contribution from a new member. Welcome.

I agree -- great post @mkaresh and welcome! I second the request to please make this a wiki. I found a few things missed or that should be modified. DRLs used to be standard, but moved at some point into the tech package. What you call 'ambient light' in some places, where it is a separate option, is called 'Premium interior lighting', but it appears to be the same as the ambient lighting included in old tech package. Third-row seats had a "shadow-update" at some point from leather/pleather to all fabric. Some items (e.g. extended leather now an option) may have been included in earlier cars with leather seats. Fog lights after their reappearance as an option are V2. There is a cold weather package and modifications that appeared after first cars, others modified with dash vents, etc. Other smaller shadow-changes like chrome vs plastic inside trim, change in frunk dimensions, removal of rear bumper cross-member except for 3rd row seating, etc. And finally if you really want to compute "truedelta," you'll have to deal with the whole batterygate thing. Good luck with that.

Thanks for doing this. As others suggested, it would be great to make this a wiki.

7/3/2013 (includes 7-day grace period from originally announced date)

Extended warranty price increase from $2500 to $4000

It may be hit, or miss, but I'm trying to find out the approximate VIN where P85 no longer 'included' the air suspension option, and it had to be ordered? This way you know, when holding out for coils only, that certain VINs are almost certain to be air.

The big pricing change, in July '13, I think, had a number of cars produced up through VINs beyond 20,000. I'm trying to relate the VIN to the build date (where it is legible). I think that is the thrust of the changes, as VIN numbers are only a rough sequence to be relied upon only in the absence of knowing the build time.
