Forbes on Fox: Global warming is a "massive human delusion"

I know we already have a global warming thread, but sometimes a video comes along that is so outrageous that it deserves a spotlight of it's own.

Forbes On Fox Panelists On Climate Change "Hysteria": "Socialism In Drag," "A Massive Human Delusion" | Video | Media Matters for America

WOW. Just wow. I am not sure whether to be shocked or impressed that so much deception could possibly be put in a 5 minute segment. But since I have the overwhelming urge to debunk this video, I'm posting a thread on it.

Myth 1: US cold weather/record lows this year disprove global warming.
You can't just look at one year, you can't just look at one region and you can't just look at one country. It doesn't matter if there is a single year of more record lows than record highs, the overall trend looks like the chart on this article: Does cold weather disprove global warming?

Myth 2: Scientists getting stuck in the Antarctic disproves global warming
This goes with the "Antarctica is gaining ice" myth. The data shows that Antarctica is indeed gaining sea ice, but losing land ice. See Is Antarctica losing or gaining ice?

Myth 3: They changed global warming to climate change.
False and debunked many times. Global warming and climate change are two different terms with two different meanings and both still used in scientific journals. Steve Forbes is a smarter man than this. This isn't a flat out, blatant shameless lie from Forbes. Global warming vs climate change

Myth 4: We've had weather changes in the past 4 billion years
We are still less than a minute in the segment and the insanity is already in high gear. There is no way that Steve Forbes doesn't know the different between weather and climate. The difference between weather and climate

Myth 5: Global warming is socialism in drag.

Myth 6: Natural gas is a clean energy source.
Apparently not... 4 states confirm water pollution from drilling

Myth 7: Arctic ice is growing
They are looking at just one year, from 2012 and 2013. Completely and totally dishonest cherry-picking. It's not about a year to year change, but the long term trend. Ice isn't melting

Myth 8: Scientific forecasts have bring wrong
Not really... How reliable are climate models?

Myth 9: Global warming is a massive human delusion, if it were real, then Solyndra would be booming and Exxon-Mobil would be going out of business.
My God, the audacity of these people amaze me. They are actually boasting here what they already know, that without a price on carbon, there is no consequence to CO2 pollution. It's a classic market failure, a negative externality without a price. Pollution is a socialized cost.

lol nwdiver... :)

I agree it's frustrating but l like how Elon Musk framed the issue in his recent interview: if it's not renewable, it's finite, and we will run out of it. So the change must happen. It's only a question of "when".

We are already having to use the dirty, energy intensive, tar sands in Alberta for oil because the cheaper, easier 'well oil' is no longer as plentiful as in the past. So even without the climate change/global warming arguments, we must change over to renewable resources. Exon Mobile will go out of business. It's only a matter of time. I just hope it goes out of business before our species does.

More likely scenario is that Exxon/Mobil will / has already started silently diversifying ... they have to know. No executives for a company like that can keep their heads in the (tar) sand that long. Sorry.

Alaska is having one of the most continuously warm winters it's ever experienced. In its breadth, Alaska's "footprint" encompasses the same distance as from the California coast to northern Minnesota to Florida - easier to see here: alaska vs lower 48 size - Google Search.

So what's all this about a so-called "cold US" winter?????? Inquiring minds would like to know.

I continue to be amazed that anybody pays attention to Fox News.

In our neighborhood, when we used to call somebody "off their rocker" , "one enchilada short of a combination plate" , or "out to lunch", we now say....

"they must be watching too much Fox News" .....

Humanity as FOX "NEWS" would have it...

“I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had, during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you aren’t actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with its surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply, and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we… are the cure.” -Agent Smith

Forbes is a massive human delusional moron

The North Pole LITERALLY just moved to Chicago... yea... that happens all the time. Superstorm Sandy was a NorEaster crashing into a Blizzard and was the lowest pressure EVER RECORDED ON EARTH... yea, that happens all the time. Worst tornado outbreak ever, latest tornadoes ever.. yep... happens all the time.

If only someone had made a movie describing the inconvenient truth of climate change maybe 10 years ago to warn us so we could prepare for it... Oh yea, someone did.

I don't believe the Sun exists. Neither do 3 of my friends. It's official, there is officially a "debate" as to the reality of the sun. Quick, let's go change the science books.

Idiots. Pure idiots. It's our kids that are going to pay for this lunacy.

It's not wrong to question things in general but, when otherwise-intelligent and accomplished people do so even in the face of overwhelming evidence and numerous studies from parties that are above reproach, it's very disheartening. When dogma and agenda override common sense and knowledge, we are most certainly "circling the drain".

Sad but true

California (home to the Tesla factory) is currently in record and extreme drought: rainfall is about 1/3 to 1/2 of previous RECORD lows.

Speculation is that this is due to the new instability in the jet stream caused in turn by ever-decreasing Arctic ice. If this is true it could be a permanent change, because that ice is not coming back any time soon.

And now we have a polar vortex somewhere over Iowa - sure, there is no climate change.

BP has an explicit strategy to move "Beyond Petroleum". Not very quickly, granted, but they are keeping a close watch on the renewables sector.

Moderator's Note: The sidebar about using mediamatters.org as a source for a video clip from Fox is now in snippiness not because it was particularly snippy, but because it wasn't on-topic here.

record drought in California made the news here

German news outlet reports 3rd year of consecutive drought in California.

Satellite image of Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe shows that there is not enough snow to supply water for the coming summer.
So tell your ICE driving friends that there might be enough oil, but not enough water to refine it. It takes 2 gal of water to refine 1 gal of fuel.

We've lost all notion of seasons here in Calif. There used to be atleast a dry season (roughly May through November) and a wet season (December through April) but, there are only lukewarm and warm periods left now and pretty much all dry. The Governor has already declared a drought and we are severely short on our snow cap and water reserves for the second year in a row.
