I'm really pleased that there are some manual controls for common functions like the climate control. That's one common complaint w/ the Prius, the climate control is primarily accessed via the MFD (multi-display screen), which can be a pain and isn't all that intuitive.

These appear to be for the Roadster, whereas the Model S has all functions on the touch screen.

But it looks like the bottom part of the huge screen layout dedicates some real estate to HVAC without having to go through a menu of screens.

It is early days yet - but Elon has said the 17" screen, and the 11" screen behind the steering wheel (speedometer etc) will be customizable. Meaning not only will you be able to change the appearance of the indicators, but you can choose which controls to show and where.

This could mean that HVAC is dedicated to the bottom of the 17" display -- or maybe the top of the display, or behind a submenu perhaps. All of it should be at the whim of the driver. So if you want the HVAC buttons in the same place all the time, it will be. If you would rather the backup camera take that real estate, that should work too.

It should make toast.
