When the NHTSA’s report on the Volt’s post-crash-test battery fire was issued, I read the whole gigantic thing and couldn’t have been more impressed with its thoughtfulness and detail. In retrospect, all the commentary prior to it was unprofessional, even irresponsible, speculation.
Definitely sounds familiar (the second sentence).

So ironically, the day after Mr. Kendall’s gag about electric-car battery fires, a conventional car actually did catch fire (albeit, a tiny one) just a short distance away. And you wouldn’t have known without me just telling you. The car was surrounded by our videographers who could splashed the whole scene on the web – but wisely didn’t because – guaranteed – it would have been misinterpreted. That’s good judgment. Which -- until the NHTSA report is released -- I sure wish my colleagues working in the 24-hr-seven-day-a-week news-churn, would show a little more of.
