My guess is around $80k nicely equipped, with larger battery and luxury package. The Roadster required 50% deposit. I'm thinking the $40k deposit for the Model S is about 50% the cost of the Signature Model S.

The deposit for non-signature models will be $5k.

I'd like to see them show a rolling chassis (similar to the Roadster one they had in Detroit) that shows the packaging of all the drive train 2.0 components.

Doug had to do a last minute repair on his Miata, but I got an sms from him when he was on the road in Sunnyvale. I've not heard from him since then, but I expect that he'll be checking in soon.

Some last minute questions:

#1: Is the current prototype street-legal / road-legal?
(In other words is it just a matter of getting a factory online to make more just like it?)
#2: Has it been crash tested at all?
(We know they had to go through a lot of Roadsters before that was certified)
