Thread: Gas stations are dangerous!

Replacing a bridge is mega-expensive. Ironic that "cool" logo under the flaming hot tank... __not__ cool.

Yeah, that 880 Tanker fire basically melted the bridge above.

Something like that happened a few years back here. Gas stations are also smelly.

Gas stations also tend to take up premium real estate. In Cupertino, what would nominally be the intersection at the heart of the city has two gas stations on opposite corners. I often imagine how much better things will be when those stations are finally gone and converted to something more pedestrian friendly. And not so obnoxiously over-lit at night.

Hey, great observation. Wouldn't that provide enough electricity to charge hundreds of electric miles - a fair chunk of all the gasoline miles sold during the day!

I noticed the stations around here use LED forecourt lights. They'll save money where it's their own.

Really messed things up here in LA if you drove the 60 freeway. It' has always been one to avoid anyway being so old. We had two late to work when the number is usually 0 for months.

Great point. Electricity to light (and heat/cool) gas stations needs to be included in the kWh/gallon (or Litre, or Imperial Gallons) calculation.

EV economics are looking better every day.

An average of 5020 gas station fires per year for the years between 2004, and 2008 alone. more than half during refueling
