Statement from Tesla:
We were able to contact the driver quickly and are pleased that he is safe. This was a significant accident where the car was traveling at such a high speed that it smashed through a concrete wall and then hit a large tree, yet the driver walked away from the car with no permanent injury. He is appreciative of the safety and performance of the car and has asked if we can expedite delivery of his next Model S.

Hard to tell what is burning (might not be battery) as the video is from too far away. Wish the cameraman had zoomed in. From the one pic it looks like the car is resting on a telephone pole perhaps? Also, the speeds involved must be high as the front driver wheel is not visible and the rear drivers side wheel is off the axle and there is no damage to the rear bumper.

Why are blurry cams still legal in this day in age?

That said it flew into the air after hitting something than slammed into a wall and a tree...That is quite a beating it took.

Though in the after image it does look like the fire was also only in the front, but it is hard to tell.

There are some explosions that go off... given it's Mexico, I wonder if there was ammo in the frunk. Unfortunately, the video starts when the police are already on scene so we don't see how long it took before the vehicle caught fire in a serious way.

QUOTE:Here's a statement from a Tesla spokeswoman, who says the crash did not put the owner off of Model S ownership.

Yes lets expedite delivery of another Model S to a man who drukenly destroyed it and fled the scene...lol

Surprising that the people involved in the crashes always want another model s:

No, it's not. Car might have saved their lives; why drive anything else?

In fact, I think it's worth putting the quote here.

If that isn't an endorsement for the car from someone who knows what it's like in life-at-risk conditions, I don't know what is.
