You might recall a show about the Eliica 8 wheeled EV...
(looks like the show got removed from YouTube though)

In the show they (Elica Team & Mitsubishi) went to Li-Ion suppliers in China in search of cheaper batteries. (Elica used $150K of Japanese Li-Ions cells at the time). There were concerns over the quality of the cells they could get from China.

The price may be good, but is quality of materials and quality control good enough?

The Eliica was featured in a cable broadcast earlier in the year. Some interesting footage of the car. They were trying to establish some connections with a Chinese battery manufacturer. The battery plant in China was under construction but awe inspiring by it's scale and the commitment to the project. Pay attention world.

At the same time, a certain CEO insists that Quality Control in Chinese factories can be of the highest quality if properly managed.
