Delivery date for a P85+....Late December?

Hi,
I wanted to see what delivery dates the owners of P85 are getting? I confirmed my order on Monday, 10/14 for a P85+. Wednesday, 10/16, I got a call from my Delivery Specialist that the delivery date would be December 23rd. I asked about the Priority Status of the P85 which says on the website "One month priority delivery." The DS would check and let me know. I didn't hear anything so I called back on Monday, 10/21 and asked if there was any updated delivery information. He didn't have it but had texted the factory to see if they have a new date. I don't even have a VIN number yet.
Today, October 24th, I got his voicemail and left a message which asked if there was any news. I'm still waiting for any new information. As you can tell, its tough waiting.
So, if you confirmed your P85 order around October 10th through October 18th, what delivery dates are you getting?

This is for US delivery in the Bay Area.....

Thanks.

Citizen-T is probably correct. I confirmed my P85 on 10/1. Didn't get a VIN until 10/22- 3 weeks later. When I confirmed it was quoted as "Later November". Now it's "December". I still do not have a production or delivery date. The "One Month Priority" is just marketing as fas as I can tell. While difficult, the guys in this forum make the wait much easier to bear. Congrats on your purchase!

I am in Canada, and ordered mine on the October 18th...confirmed on the 19th, and received my VIN on the 22nd. I am not sure what my delivery time will be, but it was targeted late November. I am not sure what to expect next....or whether having the VIN number already indicates I have been assigned a car and it's being customized now.

How long has people waited for the car, after the VIN has been assigned?

I ordered a p85+.

Hope this helps.

i ordered on the 15th received vin on the 22nd and was told i could pick up car mid November. I said i was spending thanksgiving with family in San Jose and would like to pick up and get tour on the 29th of November..she said that was doable...have not heard from them since.

Waiting is not fun, and yes European delivery is slowing things down, along with holiday schedule in US.

Good news is you will for sure receive it this year and have a great New Year's gift to play with--especially a P+!!!

Market expansion to other countries is a high priority to Tesla especially since they have quite a bit of support on the domestic side. Focus on the emerging markets of the business and they will do well. This is all on the business end of things, but is more frustrating for the domestic buyers.

So, once you get a VIN number, how long does it usually take to get a confirmation date for delivery?

That's an interesting VIN you have there. It comes before some of the September order VINs so I'd bet you're getting a car that just happened to match a build for a new fleet vehicle. To answer your question, depending on how busy your DS is they should reach out to you in the next few days. They should have a rough estimate of when the car will enter / leave production and its usually within a 2 week window after that where delivery occurs.

Ordered an S85 on 10/12, confirmed on 10/15, and 10/25 website says, "sourcing parts". No VIN. No build date. No delivery date.

I did email upgrade the Tech package to folding mirrors and was given as estimate of build in November, deliver in December.

Or it could be that Tesla's giving priority to P85+s, which others have speculated is possible. Based on cfOH's list, it looks like VINs somewhat roughly correlate to production day rather than assignment day. Tesla might leave production slots open for higher-priority cars and assign those VINs accordingly. For example, you reserved an S85, but our cars and VINs are very similar, and will probably be in production at the same time (I have factory delivery 11/26, whereas yours needs time for shipment). S85s that confirmed around 10/1 are all in the mid-26k range, from what I've seen, if they even have VINs at all.

I'll say it again, P85+ DO get priority in the build line. As stated above, there are slots that Tesla puts build cars (all P85+) and if you order is a close match, they take that slot (for P85+) and make whatever changes. That is exactly how I got my car in 23 days from confirmation.

The problem is that there are plenty of exemptions to that. There's a guy in the deliveries thread with a P85+ ordered a week before me, taking delivery in Fremont after me. In addition, there were a number of regular P85s delivered in 3 weeks around the period where you ordered. So it's certainly not as simple as you make it out to be.

Yeah...I found it interesting as well...since some of the numbers were coming in higher than mine. I guess I will wait and see if DS will call me, before calling them.

Given that most of the loaner / test drive cars nowadays are P85 or P85+ I figured his build just happened to match one that was already in the chain and they "usurped" that "would-be loaner" as a customer delivery. What you're saying is also a viable explanation. It just struck me as odd, I was in no way implying that a P85+ ordered after mine shouldn't get priority. By all means you guys and girls who can pull that trigger should get your cars faster. :)
