LOIS CAPPS STRIKES AGAIN WITH LOONY LEGISLATION
24th District candidate Paul Coyne rips lawmaker for linking climate change to prostitution.
SANTA BARBARA — 24th District Congressional candidate Paul H. Coyne, Jr. is strongly criticizing incumbent Representative Lois Capps for co-sponsoring “truly bizarre” legislation that links climate change to prostitution. The House resolution, introduced by Oakland Democrat Barbara Lee, blames so-called “climate change” for a “lack of social opportunities” for women that may result in forcing them into “sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at high risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health…” The U.S. House resolution has been referred to the House Energy Committee.
Coyne — a Democrat like Capps– said “news of this resolution needs to be publicized to the voters of this District so they can be aware of how their Representative is spending her time and energy back in Washington. Instead of fighting to create jobs, reduce the deficit, fix entitlements, and secure our borders, Lois Capps is wasting time and taxpayer money on truly off-the-wall legislation. Mainstream Democrats, most Independents and Republicans would not accept the resolution’s ‘connection’ between global warming and increases in prostitution.
This is yet another wasted House resolution that makes claims based not on scientific data and multiple studies, but a clearly liberal agenda that encourages the President to integrate ‘a gender approach to all policies and programs in the United States.’”
“It is disturbing that now several Representatives, including our own, are blaming ‘global warming’ for the plight of marginalized women around the world. Why is Mrs. Capps sponsoring resolutions and spending time on issues such as this? Does she really believe climate change is a main ‘driver’ of the many economic and societal woes of women in our nation and the rest of the world?”
Coyne said that if Capps were truly concerned about the plight of women around the world, she would take a leadership role in proposing an end to America’s interventionist policies abroad which have resulted – and continue to result – in the deaths of innocent women and children through wars, drone strikes, and other military attacks.
