EV plates getting popular

So, I got 507 EL; picked up my car Feb 16th. I've seen a couple of Teslas and Leafs (Leaves??????

in the 600 range. Today I passed a multi-coat red with 905 EL. Guess the EL plates are mounting up! Good to see.

I agree -- I'm happy to see the EL plates catch on. When I picked up my car in mid-January, I felt like the downtown service center was just starting to understand what I meant when I said I wanted the electric vehicle plates (I got 455). I had a friend pick up his car from Villa Park last week and it now seems to be the default offering. Now over half the Teslas I've seen in the wild have had the plates. Someone will get #1000 here soon.

The numbers are way over 600 apparently. I recent got 933 EL for my LEAF and 908 EL for my Model S (delivered mid June)

I'm friends with the person with 506EL, he lives in Chicagoland and is an occasional lurker - that's 100 more than mine... quite a coincidence.

I have 1025 EL. I received my plates last week and picked up my Model S in early June.

I got my car a little over 30 days ago....my plates came in last week; 1033 EL. These will be temporary though, I want something custom.

In middle of May, I met another P85 owner in Algonquin with the plate 619 EL....he had gotten the car just a week before.

I must have gotten some early adopters for the new EL Illinois license plates if they are going in numerical order.

Most of the vehicles I've come across either have specialized or normal plates. Most of the Illinois Chevy Volts I have seen do not have EL or specialized plates. I keep running into Illinois Volts in St Louis.

That plate is only partially the truth.

All the Mitsubishi i-MiEVs I have come across either have State / City plates Bloomington / Normal Illinois area or regular Illinois licenses plates - none I've seen have been specialized. I've seen a good amount of i-MiEVs.

Volts are not eligible for the IL EL plates since they are not purely electric.

In GA, I think that they are eligible if the owner signs an affidavit stating that they will only use it as an EV.

Saw 531 EL White Tesla Model S at downtown Chicago store on Saturday. Haven't gotten through all my 52GB of video from this weekend - to see what other EL plates I recorded. 531 was in the service bay front and center.

All Model S. A regular Florida plate. 357 Illinois plate - looked like U of I plate most likely.

Found 382 EL today - white Nissan LEAF SE charging inside Memorial Medical Center parking garage Springfield Illinois. Will have video of that one live later on tonight. Video below shows the location. There was another Nissan LEAF that has been there for two days not hooked up to any of the chargers. A Chevy Volt was charging next to the LEAF SE today.
