Ontario - Poking the MPPs and HMS Host about ONroute Superchargers

I just sent this off to my MPP, the Minister of Transportation (Glen Murray) and the ONroute contact - hope others will consider something like this as well to poke the province to take Tesla up on the Supercharger program:

Ted, Sylvia, Glen,

As stakeholders in the onROUTE public-private partnership I would like to ask that you consider reaching out to Tesla to investigate the addition of Superchargers along with standard J1772 EV charging infrastructure to all onROUTE stations. A natural fit and with no cost to you would create an instant appeal for EV owners to hang around the onROUTE station while we wait for our cars to charge and spend money.

I get by with the public charging stations today that were installed by Sun Country Highway, but I’m thirsting for Superchargers so I can make it across the province without even having to plan my route. If you are not already following Tesla, the team led by Elon Musk are innovating in an industry that so badly needs it. With our provincial heritage of being an automotive powerhouse in Canada we need to be engaged with companies like this who are not merely spending our bailout dollars on more gas guzzlers. As Tesla aims for a $30-40k "Bluestar" in the next 4-5 years you can bet that other auto manufacturers are watching very closely.

As a Tesla Model S owner with over 25,000km on my car in the first seven months of ownership I can personally attest that that driving electric is quite simply amazing. I’m not a car guy but this vehicle makes driving fun again. Control, comfort, quiet, and acceleration like no other car you have ever driven before. I would like to see Ontario get back to being positive and forward looking instead of controversies of heavily subsidized wind farms and misplaced gas power plants. Let’s push EVs past the point of worry about charging infrastructure. Rebates on individual charging stations and cars themselves are a great start, but we need to back that up with taking the lead on the infrastructure necessary to support this.

re: Ontario - ...ONroute Superchargers & Sun Country Highway

Nice letter. And thank you for mentioning the Sun Country Highway nation-wide network of evCharger stations.

I hope we are successful with Tesla Supercharger deployment along Canada's highways. But in the mean time, please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any specific locations, stores, restaurants, rest stops, points of interest where you would like to see us deploy more of our high power level-2 charging stations. I'd be happy to follow-up with those contacts as we further build out our network. If you need more info, feel free to send me a PM or refer to my sig.

Thanks,
Emile.

you need charging in Sarnia Ontario it is a border crossing. There are two main hotels in town that could use them, holiday inn, and best western. I would stay at either if they put charging in. Right now there is nothing near.
Suggestion instal them at Casino locations too
