It's hard to see how the only two players in the satellite radio business (in the USA) can be allowed to merge. What about competition?
On the other hand. . . The services they provide are so similar that most people have a hard time telling them apart. And, one could imagine new receivers capable of tuning in both satellites, so the increased bandwidth could be used to provide less compressed, higher quality audio. Both companies advertise CD-quality sound, neither of them have been delivering that.
