    GE's New $50 LED Lightbulb Pricey, but Future-Proofed? | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

Nice try, but a CFL would be just as efficient and would cost 1/10th the price. Not to mention, I would never buy an LED light from GE. If I did make such an investment, I'd stick with a brand such as Cree. Still, this shows how the technology is progressing. In a few more years, we'll see LEDs getting more mainstream.

I see more and more of them on the regular shelves at places like Orchard-Supply-Hardware.
Still very pricey though, but not so bad if you consider the energy/cost savings and longevity.

Just picked up my first set of five to replace the globes in the kitchen; I've been waiting 20 years for these and they work.

I just got one of these. Highly impressive, if a little pricey.

What voltage? 110-240v? I wonder if they'll be any-voltage now.

Is the UK moving to ES instead of bayonet cap?

They come in both voltages and ES or BC flavours.
