Having rental fleet with Electric Car will greatly increase EV adoption. Renters that are "Brave" or curious will try it out and report back to friends and family their largely positive experiences. They might even buy one.

So much for first to market. Basically pushed out a year.
Report: Coda delays deliveries of all-electric sedan to late 2011 - ABG

They might as well give up. By that time the Leaf will have been on the road for a year and the Focus EV will probably beat them to market. Coda has nothing going for them (ugly car, too small, too expensive...) which probably explains why all the big wigs are jumping ship.So much for first to market. Basically pushed out a year.
I'm still bullish on them as the perfect fleet vehicle.

There is a perception issue that some municipalities and businesses have to worry about. They may want the "invisible" pablum look of the Coda. Pricing may also be different in a bulk purchase.

Let's look at it another way; maybe the new acting CEO is a believer in the mantra to under-promise and over-deliver, rather than the other way around. Disregarding if we can for a moment the previous two missed on sale dates, maybe he figures if they say the car will be on sale in late 2011, and then gets them out midsummer, they save a bit of face? I was wondering how they were going to be out by the end of the year in any kind of volume, considering they don't actually have a plant yet.
As far as the looks go, it's a little generic yes, but I don't think it's the worst looking car in the world. At least it's not goofy looking like the Leaf.
They do have a booth at the upcoming L.A. Auto Show, what do you suppose the mood will be like there? I have to admit, this 11th-hour delay doesn't exactly bode well for them.
