Model S Modifications Thread

I am still waiting to receive my ms non-pert 85kw. I ordered the 19"s because I like the 21"s but I didn't love them and my thinking was that I can drive on the 19"s for a while and see what wheels look great on the ms and change the wheels when I was going to change the tires anyway. Besides almost all wheels and tire setups will cost less than the $3500 21"s. I would also like to see an attractive staggered wheel setup that is still tasteful, like the M3 (which I also own, e92). Would love a rear spoiler since I did not get the performance. I'm sure it is only a matter of time til aftermarkets companies are making them. Or maybe I'm wrong since the production is so few compared to a mustang for example.

Has anyone heard of or made modifications off their stock Model S?

I've heard some people have installed parking sensors for example.
I know Elon's has wider rear tires.. etc

These are minor mods, but has anyone done more extensive modifications to the drive train or UI?

I have a couple of mods ready to go. I bought a set of Alloy Gators (http://www.alloygators.com) to protect the wheels on my car and a Curb Alert Pro to help prevent me from hitting curbs and whatnot when parking. I also have a couple of LED bulbs to replace the license plate bulbs and will look into additional lighting for the frunk and trunk if needed.

Never heard of Alloy gator's, great product idea (although no idea why you would want a color other than black). By the way, there shouldn't be an "s" at the end of gator in the web address.

Make sure you take pics/video of the mods. Can't wait to see it.

How much did the full body wrap cost? Does it change the "finish" of the car?

How have you found the run-flats? Does the air suspension help with the stiff sidewalls?

Today's runflats ride very nicely. They've come along way. Not sure about the interface btw air suspension and the sidewalls, but I must say, the air suspension gives a remarkably good ride in the S. The TM suspension system is one of the car's highlights. Soaks up speed bumps like a dream.

Nice to see the nosecone wrap. What product did you use there?

The shinny black plastic nosecone was the only styling cue I didn't like. The rest is spot-on to my taste. I used some matt grey car wrap film and then I overlaid it with clear matt paint protection film. I figured I could always peal it off if I didn't like it. So far... I like it.

Am I correct in thinking that the color of the car has changed slightly with the full wrap?
I am having mine wrapped next week I think ... but they're using Avery or 3m wrap.
Perhaps this is better film?

Red on black! Hey.. why hold back? I really can't see the clear film on my car at all. Saw a matt yellow wrapped 911 today. That was different.

Your car looks absolutely amazing!
nice decision to take of the curb feelers

Did you check out the AlloyGator.com product that aaronw posted? Really subtle (and kinda ingenious!).

Cant wait to get my ride tinted after seeing these pics!

How do you like the trash can? How did you mount it? Just realized now that there is no trash bin in the car! Got a newborn son so I know that there will be trash eventually!

One of my pet peeves is that cars don't come with trash receptacle of any kind. Don't automotive designers live in their cars like the rest of us? So when I took delivery of my S with it's opportunity space between the front seats, I took the opportunity to installed a nice small stainless steel trash can using a few velcro pads. It's not really a trash can, but a utensil dish drainer I picked up at Bad Bath & Beyond, but it works and look pretty cool too. http://www.oxo.com/p-797-stainless-s...il-holder.aspx (I removed the center divider inside the can)

Thanks... having fun. TM did all the heavy lifting with great design and advanced engineering.... I'm just fooling around with a few small details.

nice decision to take off the curb feelers

After hitting the curb twice, I played around with the curb feelers, but they were a no-go. Wheels are repaired now.

I just ordered these alloy wheel protectors and will install them tomorrow.
They looked simplier to install then the gators. I think I'll give them a go. GOBADGES RIMBLADES

Cant wait to get my ride tinted after seeing these pics!
Have fun.
