The short version is not very clear. Did they just drive wherever they wanted to without ever filling up? Anyone can run out of juice in an ICE too?

Could we (my father and I) travel in an electric automobile that went so far, so fast, without compromise?

The comments section of the article are lit up with the same exasperations of the lack of planning and general idiocy portrayed by the author. Only a slight bit of forethought would have resulted in a better, near "magical" experience that the author seemed to be mockingly expecting. Sigh. :cursing:

The author and his father managed to both 'fill up' at the Gilroy Supercharger and then run out of juice where the only charging opportunity was a (presumed) 30amp J1772. He made it sound like it was the car's fault that he failed to plan well enough or manage his charge/driving style in order to reach his hotel; he admits to having too much fun driving the car on twisty mountain roads. He doesn't say how far he went on that charge, either.

All in all, it's rather a "we liked the car itself but the charging infrastructure isn't there yet" review. So: mostly a yawn, except as it tends to discourage people new to EVs.
