    Electric Motorcycles

Quantya, a Swiss company making electric motorcycles that I really, really want - AutoblogGreen

    and

    Zero Motorcycles Home

I would imagine trials riders would love the constant torque of an electric drive. And with a silent bike they could exhibt in more locations side by side with mountain bike trials

As an avid off-road rider, this is one sweet little ride. The price is inline with a top drawer off-road motorcycle. I can't wait to try one out in the woods. The only drawback I see is that an average off-road trail ride or enduro measures in at 40-60 miles and 4-5 hours. Waaaay outside the range of this little puppy.

It would be a great play bike though! Perfect for motocross or freestyle.

    My current ICE bike:

Gas Gas EC200 Made in Spain (yes, it's a noisy 2 smoke)

The Zero was at the Alt car expo. Besides a booth they also had a shared fenced area for letting people ride. Anyone with a Motorcycle license was allowed to circle around at 1/4 power. Once the felt comfortable they pulled in for a switch to full power.

The sales guy said on Friday they gave 50 or so rides and had 6 spills.Getting used to the brakes was part of it but mostly because the power is more than anyone expects. I think the bike's silence is deceptive.

I found the strangest thing was watch riders do wheelies right in front of me with no noise. Felt like a real life with the mute on.

The battery is made up of many cells but the ESS is interchangeable so you could be riding while you are charging a spare or two.
