Cheapest cars to fuel - Tesla Model S (6) - CNNMoney

Interestingly, the LEAF didn't make the cut. Not that this is a Leaf forum!

I sort of stand corrected ...

In ... http://money.cnn.com/gallery/autos/2013/01/03/cheapest-fuel-cars/5.html

it mentions "The 2012 Nissan Leaf would have ranked just behind the Focus, but we looked only at 2013 model year cars. The Leaf has not yet been rated by the EPA for the 2013 model year."

Looking through this list we find:
  1. Scion iQ EV -- "The car is not for sale. Toyota is providing 90 cars to specific car-sharing programs."
  2. Honda Fit EV -- "Unfortunately, it's only available for lease in limited numbers and in limited areas."
  3. Mitsubishi iMiev -- " Unfortunately it would be hard to recommend it, even at that price. It's underpowered, uncomfortable and cheap-feeling."
  4. Smart ForTwo ED -- not yet available in the U.S.
  5. Ford Focus BEV
  6. Nissan Leaf (should have been here)
  7. Tesla Model S
So, if you eliminate the cars you can't really buy (or, at least, that I can't buy), and toss out the iMiev as not recommended, we're down to the Focus and the Leaf. Seems about right to me.

Some others:

Toyota RAV4-EV (limited number in limited areas)
Fiat 500 EV (limited number in limited areas)
Coda
Spark EV (limited number in limited areas)
