Call for non-destructive front license plate bracket

I know a number of us would like a easily removable front license plate bracket. I'm not sure if or when Tesla will get around to it but thought it might be a small business opportunity for someone with the expertise to manufacture something like that. Does anyone know someone with the skills or ability to design and sell something like this? I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated by many Model S owners who would love to buy a removable front bracket. Thanks.

The whole front plastic nose needs to go, it makes the car look cheap. It should be metal like Maserati's nose.

That may be true but would be nice to have a simple to add and remove front bracket that works with the car the way it exists now.

I agree. I'm happy to obey the law, but just hate the idea of drilling holes.

Funny that a state as dysfunctional as Florida is with some things doesn't require a front license plate.... The two plate deal just seems ridiculous to me.

Hey DSM,

Has anyone tried to attach the plate bracket to the car using double sided car molding tape?

If not, I plan on trying it in about a week, I can let everyone know if it worked, or if I'm ordering a new bracket and front plate!

I should have looked at the bracket more closely but the back doesn't appear to have a large enough surface area to make it work since it is deigned to be drilled in place. It might work though.

Done that with my Volt. Velcro is much better.

I don't know how easy the back of the nose cone is to access and how much room is available between it and the frame member, but epoxying some super magnets back there and on the plate bracket could also work.

The back of the bracket really only affords three places to attach -- where the holes are drilled. Using the strong "plastic" type velcro in those three locations might give you enough sticky power to hold it in place.

Would something as simple as a mold of the nose cone work? The frame would have plenty of surface area then for lots of Velcro.

I ordered the skene at Skene Design License Plate Mount. It still uses screws but it is on an under surface. I will post photos when installed.

Thanks. I have that too sitting in my house but was trying to decide wether or not to install it or not. At least its an option.

Here is another low cost option I've seen on BMW forums. Not sure how well it would work on the Model S though, and it may be susceptible to rusting unless it is greased or painted.

I've used tape to attach our California plate directly to the front bumper of our Toyota. On a Model S, you'd have to put it up unattractively high. However, it is an option to consider.
