You guys enjoy your baby...it's not a huge deal. It will be good to know for future reference.

Yeah, unfortunately, all that I know of are run by Chargepoint and are 30 amp (ones that I know of are at the Moonrise Hotel and the newly installed one at Washington University, Danforth campus). For future ref, if you are able to spend the night up in STL, the Moonrise Hotel on Delmar offers free charging for any EV (even if you are not a registered guest at the hotel). Husband and I went there for Thanksgiving dinner and the valet was cool about showing us their operation while we were there.

I was invited as well, and plan on attending. Looking forward to meeting you!

FlasherZ - congrats on both bundles of joy!

Thanks, may have to add Moonrise to my favorites list then for future trips.

Looks like I may skip this gathering, just not sure I'm going to feel comfortable with that long a trip so early in ownership and I can't come up the night before to assure a full charge.

Icon14 50 Amp public chargers around St. Louis

I'm necroing this thread since it looked like the closest thing to a "catch-all" for various charger locations in and around St. Louis.

One such option is the Casino Queen RV Park in East St. Louis, IL. The Casino Queen is pretty much directly across the river from the arch. Easiest access from downtown STL is to take Washington Ave east across the Eads Bridge, then take the first left (at the stoplight) and then the first left into the RV park.

The RV park office was already closed when we stopped in to check it out (in the wee hours of the morning after donating to the casino's light bulb fund), but we pulled in and were able to confirm that they do indeed have numerous 50 amp 14-50 outlets. The hookups had 3 types of outlets:
    • NEMA 5-20 (125V, 20A) with GFCI
    • NEMA TT-30 (125V, 30A), the "Travel Trailer" receptacle aka "RV 30"
    • NEMA 14-50 (125/250V, 50A)

My middle-of-the-night camera phone photos aren't the best, but you can easily make out the 3 types of receptacles:

And as you can see from the following image, the breakers for all 3 circuits are also exposed as part of the hookup panel...and they are clearly 20A, 30A, and 50A.

We didn't have our UMC with us when we stopped by the first time to verify the voltage from the 14-50, but we'll probably give it a test the next time we are there.

Since the office was closed, I also have no idea what they would want to charge for a short (n-hour) EV hookup...but it's always good to know they're there, at least. And they had DOZENS of RV hookups, presumably most or all wired as shown.

If any of you has an account with one of the charger-tracking websites, feel free to update them with this info accordingly.

They'd probably work great as long as you blow the dirt and dust out of the terminals!

The Casino Queen security patrols are usually pretty decent, but East St. Louis is a high-crime area unfortunately, so be cautious if you use it. My wife frequently parks in a parking lot right across the street for Cardinals games (overflow from the MetroLink lot) and she, along with a couple dozen others ended up getting their cars broken into -- and 2 cars were stolen -- just a few weeks ago. The Casino Queen security doesn't patrol that particular lot, but just be aware it's not the nicest of neighborhoods.

My round trip usually is about 270 miles, to be able to roam around StLouis and return with a buffer range of 50 miles I need charging options. Level 2 @ 20-30mph for few hours would help, ideal if it is in shopping district. Surprised no malls have chargers installed. Recargo lists metrolighting in Chesterfield and Brentwood as locations with J-1772. Wonder if any body had idea how these locations are in terms of safety to leave vehicles and return, passing time.
