Apple Magic Touchpad

I wonder if the Apple Magic Touchpad (bluetooth connectivity) would work with the 17 inch screen of the Model S. If it does work, (and I realize I would have to beg Tesla to create a pointer of some sort), I would like to build a wood box frame that would hold the touchpad and fit snugly in the center cubby space. I know it sounds ridiculous with a touch screen...but a touchpad would allow you to navigate the screen without leaving ten million fingerprints on the screen. It might even be easier as you could position the touchpad within reach of the armrest. This would eliminate the need to lean forward to navigate the screen. I may fiddle with this when I get my car, hopefully this weekend, and see if I can get it to work together.

The big problem with Bluetooth is that Bluetooth isn't Bluetooth even though it's advertised as if it were. Bluetooh is a set of communication protocols (called profiles in Bluetooth speak). Any particular device generally only supports a subset:

Some people have reported having success with USB keyboards and mice, so I would think you could get a USB touchpad to work, or maybe even use a separate USB bluetooth receiver in conjunction with a bluetooth touchpad.

jerry33 is right that "bluetooth" can mean a lot of different things. However, I think the majority of the implementation is in software. At least in the case of the Model S, I would guess that's the case. The bluetooth receiver in the car is probably capable of working with a variety of peripherals, but it's up to Tesla as to whether or not they want to implement each of those device profiles (which may require extensive coding). Right now I doubt if it would pair with anything other than a phone, but we know* that even that functionality will be expanded.

*If I'm not mistaken, Tesla has promised further interactivity with phones, i.e. using the touchscreen to control music (play, pause, skip, etc.), display album art, view/send text messages, and perhaps more that I'm just not thinking of.
