This is crushing. I was really looking forward to the whole experience. Maybe once the Dallas service center is open we can take it in there and get the full walk through as part of a "service experience". Still, not the same, but something.

I vote with my pocket. I am leaving Texas and taking my business with me too. That ought to be about 50 more unemployed plus no sales tax for Texas to contend with. Wish them the best. Hello CA.
"So, those of us in Texas who are awaiting a vehicle, I guess it will be backed off a truck and you will be asked for your autograph. That will be all."
But when will you get the final paperwork to file for your title and license?

How about post-delivery?... Texas no longer allows DS personnel to be present during delivery.

- When, in the scheme of things, will we get the paperwork to file for our title and license? I'm assuming that we won't be able to drive the car without at least a temporary license plate.
- If the DS can't be there _during_ delivery, can he/she come _after_ delivery?
- Assuming we need a state inspection, what should we consider in selecting an inspection station?
- Can we get insurance based on the MVPA? How long is it likely to take to get an insurance card in order to get an inspection?

1) No reason you can't get tags ahead of delivery. I got mine in the morning of the day I thought I would get the car.
2) Good question, I don't see why not.
3) I was really tempted to take it to my Lexus dealer. Instead I just went to a Mr. Goodwrench--caused quite a commotion since it was the first they had seen, but they knew exactly what it was. I would just ask before committing to the inspection if they know the option for "EV inspection" which omits the emissions test. Almost any Jiffy Lube type of place should be familiar with the process because of the Leaf, and all of their computers will have an option, but the tech might not know where it is. A Roadster owner told me in the early days very few places were familiar with how to do it without the emissions test and one time he went along with it--they hooked the meter up to a random place on his car. Of course, it passed.
4) You should be able to get insurance once you have the VIN. I set mine up ahead of time (USAA) and just turned it on the day of delivery. They have an option to print your own card and I took that to Mr. Goodwrench. I was in an out in 10 minutes.
