In the German news (sorry):
Stuttgart: "Power-to-Gas" als Energiespeicher der Zukunft? - Nachrichten :: Baden-Württemberg | SWR.de

press release (German, too - they don't have translated it :frown:)
ZSW: Weltweit größte Power-to-Gas-Anlage zur Methan-Erzeugung geht in Betrieb

Prototype state for industrial scale operation reached

The ZSW completed a 250kW research plant that stores green power.

Environment secretary Untersteller of Baden-Württemberg: "A successful step to introduce new technology."

Another hurdle to the market introduction power-to-gas technology of was overcome: On October 30th, the Research Center for Hydrogen and Solar Power (ZSW) opened a research plant with an electrical power demand of 250kW. The plant, with was subsidized by the federal environment department, converts green electric power into Hydrogen and Methane. With a maximum output of 300 cubic meters of Methane per day, it is the world's largest plant of its kind and ten times more powerful than the previous experimental plant of ZSW from three years ago. Scientists from Stuttgart are within reach of commercial scale operation of the new power storage technology.
The plant is to be further optimized during operation by the researchers, together with colleagues from Fraunhofer Institute IWES and SolarFuel Company. This aims to help scaling up future power-to-gas plants in the area of 1 to 20 Megawatts, which is relevant for grid operators. Future storage demand is subject of research activities, too.

The news article mentions that an even larger plant of 6MW is already in planning. Location is Werlte, Lower Saxony. Audi wants to start operation of this plant next year, together with the researchers from Stuttgart.
