    Otmar's Cafe Electric

If you can't wait for a Roadster, or can't afford one, then maybe a conversion is in order.

Check out this story on "Otmar", who is behind the "Zilla" (DC) controllers for most of the super quick conversions.

Is it just me, or are there others creeped out by the way those two in the vid were flirting with each other.

If the van is a rockin don't bother knockin

Otmar does some cool stuff. Frankly, there are many really good conversion options if you can get over the range problem. If you have a second car for long trips you can do a high performance conversion with 100 mile range, or have it done for you, without having to wait a year.

    Example:
    Electric Exotic Cars- WCE

Is that a real 100 miles on the highway range, or is it more like 30-40 miles under realistic driving conditions? Because I thing most lead-acid battery converted cars struggle to achieve 40 miles.

True, but lead acid isn't the only choice any more. I was thinking of lithium chemistries:
    Paul V.'s 2007 Porsche 911
    Stephen Taylor's Solectria Sunrise
Seppo Lindborg's 1996 Renault Clio Electrique

    Not bad for lead:
    Paul V.'s 1979 Porsche 911

    Performance can be bought.
