I have by now read a few (3) stories about Roadster owners witch have fried the battery pack, either by leaving the car uncharged for a prelonged period, exessive load or a combination.
Im not a full blowen battery scentist, but feel I have a basic understanding og what is going on, if other have commens or corrections please post as well.
2 things will eventually destroy the battery so keep in mind:
1. Large current
Can lead to overheat inside induvidually cells - Tesla try overcome this by temperature management control. this TMC will work on the suroundings of the cells but ofcourse not directly inside the cells (where the heat is build up), help the cells by NOT charge at highest posible current. select one witch still will satisfy your need to reach a fully SOC at the time you need it (next day/morning) - why charge at 50 amp if you will have full SOC next day at 25 amps...
2. SOC in the extreme range for longer period of time
(0-10% and 90-100%), tesla does automatically try overcome this by not allowing drive below 5%, charge primarily in "standard mode" and only in range mode if needed by the user.
if you at some time are runing your batteries in the "danger" SOC, then make shure to get it back in normal range as quick as posible. e.g. if you have charged the car in range mode - dont leave it by that if you dosent need it
Im shure these easy rules will keep your battery runing for longer time - Should Tesla be more specific/clear about these isues in the manual ? - e.g. to me it is common knowledge that a dischaged battery should be recharged as quick/early as posible and not stay the night over, same apply to a EV witch is charged in "range mode"
how can tesla have a battery warrenty of 8 years without mention how meny/offen "deep cycles or "range charges" are allowed within this warrenty ? - are we allowed to charge in range mode every day and run it flat every day and still have 8 years warrenty ? - they should state a "safe" number allows within this 8 years or how meny per year to keep the warreny
