So, I figured it is getting closer now where I will (in the near future) be able to post some "goings-ons" regarding my car. I will be posting my progression, only since I am a relatively low P number and have had some recent action on the phone and email. So, for the Inaugural post of my one and only authored thread, here goes:

Blue Paint
Pano Roof
19" Wheels
Tan Leather interior
85kWh (non performance)
Obeche
Tech
Rumble seats
Acitve Air

Placed my order at 5:30 am, Central Time on 3/27/2009.

1299 days later, I have filled out my delivery questionnaire (sent by Armen) and received a phone call today from Matthew who is going to get me the VIN in 7-10 days (or so he says) to complete insurance, finance, etc.

I am sure there is a "P"roduction reservation holder here in the forum that is lower than I, and I certainly do not post this as a weak attempt to upset any Sig owners, Canadian owners, European owners, etc. in saying that I am getting mine earlier ... heck!, I may be weeks longer than I think.

But, again, just a chronicle of the next X weeks of my life: hope they are shorter than the first 1299 days.

Well, you should be close to 1 month away. It seems they are getting all sigs out by nov 16 or 18 or so

Yeah, it sounds like they're able to get him his VIN because they are almost done producing the Sig bodies at this point. VINs as high as 650 are already on the production floor according to DrComputer. But there is now a backlog of undelivered vehicles that the delivery team is going to take a while to work through.

I'm curious what VIN you're going to get. I'm assuming it's going to be 1000+.

Did you do something to trigger the process of getting your delivery questionaire and VIN? I'm a good 500 cars ahead of you (R77) and haven't heard a word other than 'November'. Please elaborate on that key missing element of your story. I'm in the midwest, so it wouldn't seem you should have gotten your stuff before me.

Evan, I think the theory that all 400-odd Rs will be produced before any Ps has been shot down on other threads in the recent past. R is no more than a designation for Roadster friends and family and the R sequence is effectively interleaved with the P sequence as per when the reservation was made - sublimaze made his reservation on 3/27/09 so, he's right up there with you. This would be the rough sequence (assuming the order was finalized within the 30-some-day window) in which the cars are being produced.

@efusco - I did nothing out of the ordinary to speed up anything. The only thing remotely plausible was that I obtained my delivery specialists email from another Tesla owner here in Texas, but that was only after he had called me and it was to allow me to follow up with him, rather than bother him on his cell phone.

As an aside, I was afraid that this post was going to cause some emotional responses, and as gg_w_a_t mentioned, there is a great deal of banter about who should be getting what when. I actually came close to abandoning the thread even after I had typed the first post, but decided to press on. Because whether i got the car early, or it was delayed until Feb, or my bank decided to back out, or the Philippines flooded again, or whatever, this thread may serve to allow others to get a real-time gamecast of what is going on in an early Production reservation holders life.

(Unrelated) - my wife and I are going out of the country for a week next month. So, if there is a two week delay as several people are postulating here on the forums, I would not have a problem with that. I have spoken to my father, and even though he is 70, he is spry and quite interested in this purchase I have made. He will be willing to cruise over from Princeton (that is Princeton, Texas mind you) and open the garage for Armen, allowing him to deliver the car without doing a delivery tutorial. Armen then stated he would come back after we finished our vacation (holidays) and would go over the vehicle with me.

I may tend to go silent in this thread until there's a factual missive that can be posted - that way, we can keep the thread from getting too long with chatter, and filled with meat and potatoes. As for hijacking, I can't help that, but can only pray.

Silent until other 411 emerges,
WJ

I am Sig # 1278 and am glad to hear that your delivery window is close. The fact that you are in McKinney, Texas is also good info...it may turn out that our cars make the voyage together to Texas. I am still waiting for the call or e-mail and expect that this may happen before the end of the week. Keeping my fingers crossed....

Congrats and thanks for your post.

I'm just curious...and a bit jealous.
2 weeks ago I wrote to my customer relations people (was one guy, now he's in a new job and it's someone else) and got my vague November delivery update. So, being a solid 2 weeks, I wrote him back requesting another update and more detail. We'll see what happens.

OMG. I do not think this theory has been shot down at all. As I've said again and again, when I made my reservation (12/31/2009), the Ps were well up over a thousand, maybe even over 2,000.

Right, my point about interleaving is not about the numbers themselves (your R140 came after P1xyz) but, about effective sequence of production. The companion RN numbers are probably more appropriate for this discussion?! It's all probably moot anyway as all the Rs and quite a few Ps will have been produced by December.

Based on the delivery windows and discussions with OE, I do not believe the RN numbers are used for sequencing at all. I have been told by numerous people that it's Sigs first, the Rs, and then Ps. Some confusion might be due to the fact that Rs and Ps are grouped together under the nomenclature of "general production". This is useful for factory configuration, not delivery order.
