Moving off-topic posts to an existing off-topic thread, and then closing that thread?

Okay, so I can understand the need to send off-topic posts to an (appropriate?) off-topic thread.

I can't fault the moderators for doing that, and in fact I am greatly in favor of their actions in that arena (even when it involves various posts I've made, since I have a tendency to wander far off into the weeds...) :biggrin:

However, what is the point of moving several off-topic posts to an existing off-topic thread, and then closing that thread? :confused:

That doesn't exactly provide a place to continue (and in about 20 years, finish) that particular off-topic conversation!

Any grumpiness in this post may be due to the fact that I brought my laptop up to the attic as a distraction while working on some solar PV installation prep... not exactly the coolest place to be at the end of the summer in North Carolina! :eek:
