As aggrevating as he is; Toyota still sells the Prius and are pressing on with the Plug in version and the new three seater city bev, Tesla has announced an even quicker version of the Roadster, BMW still can't make enough X3's to meet demand, Vauxhall (GM UK) is still in business and we're not all driving Lambo's!

His writings are funny and amusing but despite his popularity he doesn't steer the car industry, he needs their support them more than they need his.

Just wish I could remind myself of that when he trashes the roadster and pimps hydrogen.

The brake pedal is mechanically (hydraulically) connected to the calipers, so this "blown fuse" should just mean the loss of vacuum assist. Some clarification would be nice, though. (Blown fuse required the replacement of the pump?? etc)

Cheer up. As has been stated Tesla's will still be sold out for the foreseeable future and as they prove themselves with time in the real world he will look even more foolish. Also there seems to be a good counter debate to his hydrogen cheer leading taking place so all is not lost.

Top Gear seems to subscribe to the "any publicity is good publicity" theory. They do outrageous things to get more attention. Hopefully this "public spat" gets Tesla some future customers who stopped by just to see what all the fuss was about. (Trying to make lemonade here.)

The brake system is the same as a typical vacuum assisted system on an ICE car. The only difference is that since there is no ICE to provide vacuum, there is an electric vacuum pump. That is the part that failed and required that the fuse be replaced.

Right, I'm pretty sure we all got that much. Some reports said the electric pump itself had to be replaced. The nature of the failure is what could use some clarification.

I might have disrememberd that quote. Don't misunderestimate Dale Carnegie.
