Some of this is old data:
Toyota Prius Hybrid: 1 Million Served : TreeHugger

Still though If a major Auto maker decides to make a car that appeals to a limited albeit loyal buyer such as the Prowler and the distinctive (at the time) PT Cruiser. How do they scale back? DOT crash, EPA testing, parts, dealer repair, all have to be addressed on a small volume sales model. Why would not the EV1 fit in the overall picture.

I think Martin once said that If Tesla sucessfully executed their plan, after a year or two of Whitestar production, Tesla would have sold more electic cars than the all-time total of US EV sales.

I don't know how many cars that is, but it would be quite an accomplishment if it comes to pass.

"12 NSX...79 Insight"

A tear for Honda's best cars that just never sold.

Anyway, the EV1 probably wouldn't have become successful, no matter how much I wish it would have. The Honda Insight is a perfect example: (both small two-seaters, aluminium, advanced cars) it did great for the first two years, and then its sales were abysmal.

The EV1 would've become the path for other cars that would've become a success. You know, a four seater version or a sporty version...but GM didn't think it had a future, so know they're back to square one on the Volt.
