Being in the EU is great for its diversity, but that diversity is not so great when it comes to charging your car. For those in the big countries, they will no doubt have no issue with this, but for the BENELUX countries (for example) having a single standard would sure improve the overall adoption of EV's.

As like the current state of Telecom and its roaming in the EU cfr: http://thenextweb.com/eu/2013/05/30/...et-neutrality/ I believe we need to act now to avoid a EU market littered with charging providers all having their own standards. This not only concerns the types of plugs available (Type 2 (Mennekes), CHAdeMO, etc.) and type of charge (1 fase, 3 fase, AC, DC, ...) but also the way that we will be authorized to use them (Free, Creditcard, charge pass, ...)

In a sense we should strive to reach 'net-neutrality' but for the electricity-net. Such that charging in your country is the same as charging in any other EU country. Allowing anyone to stay anywhere and be comfortable that you will be able to move around the EU without boundaries (as in not being limited to do what you want to do).
